Michiels liefde voor film begon na het zien van The Neverending Story op videoband. Vanaf dat moment was hij verslaafd aan film, groeide hij op voor de televisie en ontwikkelde een brede smaak in film. Met zijn fascinatie voor ’the weird and the wonderful’ is hij zelf films gaan maken. Met een voorliefde voor de f’s; folklore, fantasy en folklore schreef en regisseerde hij onder andere de films Papier Hier en Stefan heeft een Ster gevangen. Stefan heeft een Ster gevangen, dat geproduceerd werd door Get Across, ging een eigen wereldwijd film festival-leventje leiden en beide films sleepten ook nog een aantal prijzen in de wacht. Daarnaast regisseert Michiel videoclips, commercieel werk en documentaires met als doel toffe, creatieve verhalen te vertellen. In zijn vrije tijd kijkt hij nog steeds veel films, schrijft hij scenarios en leest hij veel over de Victoriaanse tijd. Hardop.

Writer / director Michiel ten Kleij was fascinated by film from a young age. He grew up in front of the television where he developed a broad taste in film. With his fascination for ‘the weird and the wonderful’, he turned his personal passion into practice and specialised in fantasy, folklore and fairy tales.
He wrote and direct the critically acclaimed Papier Hier as his final exam, which was a fairy tale film with elements of horror, based on the Dutch folkloric character Holle Bolle Gijs. The film was nominated for awards and won several. With a dedication to fantasy and a love for Victorian times, Michiel wrote, direct, shot and edited Steven finds the Treasure in one day in London, which is now sent to several film festivals. Next to that Michiel writes and directs music videos and pursues the goal of creating cool, original content.
